Introduction:-

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a small saving scheme, which can be opened in Post office and private/public banks in the form of saving account in the name of a baby girl.

It is regarded as the one of the most high-paying investment options in fixed income segment. One can also claim tax deduction up to Rs 1.5 Lakh in a financial year under section 80c of the Income Tax Act.


How to Open a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Account?

One can open a SSY account by visiting a Post Office or any authorized bank that offers this scheme. One has to fill up a Sukanya Samriddhi Account form available at Post Office or authorized bank. Documents required to be attached are:-

  1. Child Birth Certificate
  2. Address Proof of Guardian (Passport, Ration Card)
  3. Identity Proof of Guardian (PAN, Aadhaar Card)
  4. Payment Instrument with initial contribution of at least Rs 250 or cash to that extent.

How to fill Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Application form?




The following are the key fields that are featured in the SSY application form:-

  1. Name of the girl child (Primary A/c holder)
  2. Name of the parents opening the account (Joint Holder)
  3. Initial Deposit Amount
  4. Cheque/DD Number and date (Used for Initial Deposit)
  5. Date of Birth of Girl Child
  6. Birth Certificate details of Primary Account holder
  7. Id details of Parents
  8. Address (Present and Permanent as per Id Proof)
  9. Details of any other KYC Documents (PAN, Voter  Id Card etc.)

Tenure:-

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has a tenure equal to the time the girl child is 21 years of age. However contribution only need to be made for 15 years.
