PMMVY Scheme - Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana 2020



Malnutrition has crippled most Indian Women in rural and semi- urban areas. A significant portion of rural Indian women suffer from under-nutrition and anemia. Poor nutrition greatly affects child birth and worsens the health of the infant and the mother. To overcome this problem, the Prime Minister of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana formerly known as Indira Gandhi Matru Sahayog Yojana (IGMSY).


Features of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana :-

  • To provide sufficient rest to women before and after delivery of the first child, the scheme provides partial compensation for wage losses in the form of cash incentives.
  • The cash benefits aims to improve the health of pregnant women and lactating mothers.
  • The scheme covers all pregnant women and lactating mothers, except PW and LM, who are in regular employment with the central government or state government or public undertakings.
  • The scheme is designed for pregnant women and Lactating mothers who have a pregnancy on or after 01.01.2017 for the first child in their family.
  • The date and stage of pregnancy for a beneficiary will be counted in relation to her LMP date as mentioned in the MCP Card.
  • In case of Miscarriage/ still birth, a beneficiary can claim benefits only once. This includes any remaining installments for future pregnancies. 
  • In the case of Infant mortality, the girl will not be eligible to claim benefits under the scheme if she has already received all the installments of maternity benefit under PMMVY.
 

How to apply online for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana ?

There is no online method of registering directly for the beneficiary. Eligible women are required to register under the scheme at Anganwadi Center (AWC) /approved health facility based on the department applicable to that particular state/ union territory.

The beneficiary will have to fill the prescribed form or registration, claim the installment and hand it over to the Anganwadi center or approved health facility.


Benefits of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana :- 


Below are the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana :-

  • The mother is entitled to a cash incentive of 5,000 in three installments. 1,000/- at the initial registration of pregnancy at Anganwadi Center (AWC)/ approved health facility, Second installment of Rs 2000/- on receiving antenatal check up (ANC) and 3rd installment of Rs 2000 is registered after the birth of the child and the child has received the first cycle of BCG,OPV,DPT and Hepatitis-B, or its equivalent/ substitute. 
  • Eligible beneficiaries also include the women under the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) for institutional delivery. The incentive received under JSY (Rs 6000 per woman) is for maternity benefit.
