The Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been implemented across the country by the Government of India from 01st July 2017. Earlier, many types of taxes had to be collected separately, causing inconvenience in collecting taxes. To make the tax process easier for the traders, PM Modi implemented the one country one tax rule, which is known as Goods and Services Tax (GST).

For depositing the tax levied on business, one has to register on the GST portal, after that apply for GST Number and then file tax with the help of GST number.

Documents required for GST Registration :-

• Photocopy of Registrar of Company (ROC) registration document.
• Photocopy of registration document in Memorandum of Association (MOA) if the company is in partnership.
• Photocopy of rental agreement if business is started by taking place on rent.
• Address Proof of Business Location.
• Identity Proof of the Applicant.
• Photocopy of First page of bank account passbook where business address, account number etc. is written.
• PAN Card.

When GST Registration is Required:-

• GST Registration is mandatory when the annual turnover of the business is more than Rs 40 Lakh.
• It will be mandatory for companies in the hill states of the North East to get GST registration if the business turnover is more than Rs 20 Lakh.
• For entrepreneurs associated with business related to supplying goods to events or exhibitions, who have no permanent place of business. For such business GST has to be deposited on the basis of estimated turnover of 90 days. It will be necessary to register GST online before starting such an enterprise.
• If an NRI wants to start a business in India and has not fixed a place for business in India, in such a situation it will be mandatory to get GST registration with in 90 days of starting the business.
• All E-Commerce entrepreneurs (Flipkart, Amazon etc.) who sell their goods from online portal to more than one seller, they are required to get GST registration.

Online GST Registration Procedure:-

• Visit the official website of GST Portal.

• On the homepage, click on GST Registration under GST e-Services option.Once click, you will be directed to below page.

• Click on the New Registration link on this page, below page will open once you click.

• After filling this form, you have to click on Proceed option.
• After this, the message of OTP will come on the mobile registered mobile number and email id, enter the OTP in given space.
• Now you will see a TRN - Temporary Reference Number on your screen. Note down this number.
• After that go to the homepage and click on New Registration option under GST Registration option as we did earlier in first step.
• After this, click on TRN option.

• Captcha Code has to be written after typing the TRN number in this page. After this, you have to click on Proceed option.
• After this, OTP message will be received on your registered mobile and email id. After entering OTP, click on Proceed button.
• After this, click on view saved application option.
• Then click on edit option under action option.
• After this, the type pf business will have to be chosen according to the type of business.
• After this all the information and documents have to be uploaded in the form.
• After this, click on Save and Proceed option.
• After this, the application form number will be received on your registered email id. 

With the help of this number, you will be able to track the status of GST registration.

Track GST Application Status:-

• Visit the official website.
• On the homepage, click on GST Registration option under GST e-Services option.

• Click on the "Track Application Status" option, you will be directed to below page.

• In this page, the ARN option has to be selected, enter the application reference/form number.
• Then after entering the ARN number, click on Search button to complete the process.

You will have your application status on your desktop/Mobile Screen.
