Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana - PMJDY




The Modi Government started the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana in its first term. Under this scheme, the account of the poverty stricken people are opened on zero balance in private banks,post offices and nationalized banks. After 6 months, overdraft facility is given to the accounts with which the Aadhaar card will be linked. Other services like accidental Insurance cover up to Rs 2 lakh, Life cover and many other facilities are given.There are many benefits of Jan Dhan Account and it is also easy to open.

Under the Government of India's Financial Inclusion Program Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), more than 40 crore bank accounts have been opened so far. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was launched six years ago. According to the latest data, so far Jan Dhan accounts of 40.05 crore people have been opened and the amount deposited in these account has exceeded 1.30 lakh crore rupees.
 
The Objective of the PMJDY scheme is to ensure everyone have access to the banking system as well as to provide a basic saving account to every person belonging to the lower income groups of the society, to avail loans as per need and to provide insurance and pension facilities.


How to Open Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana New Account?




If you want to open New Jan Dhan Account then  you can easily do this by visiting the nearest bank. For this you have to fill a form and complete it with mandatory information like Name, Mobile Number, Bank name and branch name, applicant's address, nominee name, Business/Employment and annual income details, No. of dependents and ward ,town and Village code details.


How to make Existing Bank account a Jan Dhan Account?




If you have an old bank account, it is easy to convert it into a Jan Dhan Account. For this , you will have to go to the respective bank branch and apply for "RuPay" card and after filling a form, your bank account will be transferred to Jan Dhan Yojana.


Documents required for Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Account:-

Aadhaar card or Passport or Driving Licence or Pan Card, Voter Card, NREGA Job Letter, Letter issued from Authority with name,address and Aadhaar Number , a letter issued by a gazetted officer bearing an attested photo of account opening.


Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Eligibility:-

To open a Jan Dhan Yojana Account, one need to fulfill the below conditions:

  1. Be a citizen of India
  2. Age - 10 years and above
  3. Do not have bank account

Below are the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Account:

  1. Good Interest is available on deposits.
  2. Free Mobile banking facility is also provided with the account.
  3. If you have a Jan Dhan Account, you can withdraw up to an additional Rs 10,000 from your account through Overdraft. But this facility is available only after proper maintenance of Jan Dhan Account for few months.
  4. Accidental Cover up to Rs 2 Lakh.
  5. Life Cover up to Rs 30,000.
  6. It is easy to buy insurance, pension products through Jan Dhan Account.
  7. If there is Jan Dhan Account,then accounts will be opened for pensions in schemes like PM Kisan and Shramayogi Maandhan.
